A New Release

The 4-O Buckle belt

Almost 16 years ago we started producing leather goods from our workshop in the heart of Vancouver, Canada. Since then we have gone through many designs, many techniques, many busy times and some quiet times. We are now at a point where we will be steadily rolling out new designs over the next few years. Each design is still based on our no-nonsense approach. We still primarily make and design our pieces by hand, however we now add machines where it makes sense. The 4-O buckle came about because we simply could no longer source high quality buckles, so we decided to make our own. 4-O will be the basis of our new design language.

No 40A Bridle Leather Belt with Solid Brass 4-O Buckle
from CA$420.00

Custom-made solid brass 4-O buckle paired with heavyweight English or North American 10-12oz bridle leather, solid brass rivets throughout. The 4-O buckle design is machined in-house from a single brass billet, then hand-finished on the bench for two hours to recreate a traditional brushed '60s texture. The buckle tongue is solid brass and also machined in-house, while the contrasting stainless steel hinge pin is hand-hammered to set.

The belt is 1.5" (40mm) wide—a substantial weight suitable for medium to larger frames and ideal for jeans, khakis, and work pants. Leather edges on the body of the belt are hand-burnished, then the leather is hand-finished in oils and waxes.

Wholly made by our hands in Vancouver, BC. Part of the 4-O design collection.

No 40B Bridle Leather Belt with Solid Brass 4-O Buckle
CA$320.00

Crafted with a solid brass 4-O type B buckle and heavyweight English or North American 10-12oz bridle leather, solid brass rivets throughout. Each buckle is machined in-house from a single brass billet, then receives two hours of hand-finishing on the bench to achieve the traditional brushed '60s texture that defines our hardware. The solid brass tongue is also machined in-house, with a contrasting stainless steel hinge pin that's hand-hammered to set.

The belt measures 1" (25mm) wide—a refined profile suited to smaller frames and more formal occasions including dress trousers and tailored wear. Leather edges are hand-burnished along the body of the belt, then hand-finished in oils and waxes.

Wholly made by our hands in Vancouver, BC. Part of the 4-O design collection.

No 116A Solid Aluminum Clip
CA$140.00

Machined in our Vancouver workshop from a 6mm thick solid aluminum billet, this 25mm × 50mm carabiner-style clip is designed for everyday utility. Use it for clipping key rings to belt loops, ID badges to clothing, or as a connection point on our bags to attach belt straps to bag bodies.

An additional leather loop is included that can be color-matched to your Palmer & Sons leather belt, allowing you to attach the No 116A clip directly to your belt as a secondary loop.

Precision-machined and then hand-finished on the bench, where we recreate an authentic '60s hand-brushed texture. The stainless steel wire gate is heat-treated for hardness and durability.

Wholly made by ourselves in Vancouver, BC. Part of the 4-O design collection.

No 43 Bridle Leather Side bag with custom solid brass fittings
CA$620.00

Custom-made solid brass 4-O style fittings machined in-house. This side bag is crafted from heavyweight English or North American 8-12oz (3-5mm) bridle leather, with solid brass rivets and screws throughout. The 4-O D-rings and brass catch designs are machined in-house from a single brass billet, then hand-finished with a traditional brushed '60s texture. Construction features machine stitching, hand stitching, and hand riveting.

The side bag is a practical size that will hold a phone (interior phone strap included), wallet, keys, business cards, earbuds, and perhaps a small drawing pad. Two exterior loops allow you to attach pens or clip on carabiners or key rings. The strap features a distinctive pin-and-D-ring adjustment mechanism that complements the overall aesthetic of the bag. The bag can be worn over one shoulder, across the body, or cross-body under-arm (our preferred method, which allows the bag to be somewhat concealed under a jacket).

The interior can be fully lined in a variety of cotton, silk, and woolen fabrics. For the initial run we're using a beautiful vintage Etro woven wool. Leather edges on the body of the bag are hand-burnished, then the leather is hand-finished in oils and waxes. We like our edges to be visible and truthful—no filler, no paint.

The bag is wholly made by our hands in Vancouver, BC. The only components we don't make in-house are the screws and the handful of rivets.

It begins with a solid 70x80mm billet of brass. The base shape is CNC’d. The tongue pin is set by hand, and then the body and tongue are finished for a super fine interference fit (so close that the gap between the tongue and buckle body is almost invisible). The visible surfaces are then hand finished to a brushed appearance. The final outcome is a buckle that is made to last as long as the owner.
